It was pretty obvious who was going to be number one last week, but after only being out for one week, GTA V has taken 89% of British game sales and rocketed to the top of the tables, becoming the fastest selling game in the UK.
Rockstar already revealed that GTA V sold 1.57 million copies in the opening day, which beat the previous record set by Call of Duty: Black Ops. Not only that, but the super hyped-up game (and rightly so) sold more in its first week than the launch weeks of all other Grand Theft Auto games combined.
The game seemed to have been released as the best exact time; at the end of our current console generation; providing gamers with months of Trevor-fueled rampages until the big question arises in November – Do I buy a new console or just play some more Grand Theft Auto?
However, not all players are enjoying their game to its full potential. There have been many reports on the unofficial GTA V forums stating the game hasn’t been running the way it should be on Xbox consoles older than 2009. Most complaints have been the occasional crash we all suffer from time to time, yet others have been posting on the forums regarding freezes from between 5-30 minutes, and even games that won’t play longer than half an hour. Although Rockstar are allegedly looking into these issues, I can’t help but feel incredibly sorry for the poor guys suffering from these issues, and also quite curious their consoles have lasted this long.
